► Co-designed by Secretlab and McLaren
► Featuring carbon fibre and microsuede materials
► Limited to 100 units
Secretlab and McLaren Automotive have launched a new limited-edition gaming chair. The Secretlab McLaren MonoCell Edition gaming chair is inspired by the carbon fibre chassis technology found in McLaren’s 12C and W1 supercars.
The Secretlab McLaren MonoCell Edition features a carbon fibre topshell inspired by the McLaren W1 and is designed to offer the best balance of strength, flexibility, and weight. The main touchpoints are upholstered with Dinamica microsuede material to simulate the sporty-luxurious feel of McLaren interiors.
Based on design techniques used in the Secretlab TITAN Evo, the flagship gaming chair from the brand, the limited-edition seat is said to fuse sculpted ergonomic comfort with a luxury feel. The cold-cure foam is designed to support owners through a more even weight distribution and allows pressure relief.
The pebble seat base, which impressed us during our test of the TITAN Evo, enhances support and provides room to sit upright or even cross-legged. Another feature we particularly like is the four-way L-ADAPT lumbar support, which can be adjusted up, down, in, and out.
With an iconic back catalogue to draw inspiration from, including cars like the 1990’s McLaren F1, which features a full carbon fibre monocoque and chassis, the supercar brand is well-placed to help craft the specialised racing seat.
The limited collector’s piece is intended to celebrate McLaren’s engineering excellence. ‘It’s about the experience, and the way their creations make people feel. From precision-engineered supercars to motorsport icons, every McLaren is special,’ said co-founder and chief strategy officer at Secretlab, Alaric Choo.
So far, there’s no news on the price of the Secretlab McLaren Monocell Edition, but considering the TITAN Evo currently costs £419, and the TITAN Evo McLaren (non-limited edition) starts at £734, expect this latest version to cost upwards of £800. Only 100 will be made, and order books open on 15 December.
