Despite graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and spending eight years teaching, she’s now decided to pursue what she always wanted to, and become a motoring journalist. After studying a Master’s in Automotive Journalism she landed her first job with Bauer.
Amrit’s love of cars came from her Dad. They would watch all the car telly, blitz magazines and she learned a thing or two when he worked on his Saab 900 Turbo. There will always be never-ending car-based ‘what-if’ and ‘this-or-that’ conversations between them.
She knew early on her career had to be something to do with cars but often wondered where the other girls were. So now she’s on a bit of a mission to change that and hopes to welcome more women to the car world by any means necessary. But first she’ll start with writing about them. The cars that is.
When not furiously typing she’s likely to be seen scrolling frivolously on Autotrader and eBay looking at cheap cars that she certainly doesn’t need but could probably talk herself into should the self-control pop out for a coffee. On her current watchlist is a LS400, an E39 528i (because it has the original telephone and is Oxford Green with a tan interior) and a 9-5 Aero estate. Her first car was a FN2 Honda Civic Type R, which she owned for eight years before it was written off by a hit-and-run driver. She is still in mourning.
Outside of work, Amrit loves cooking and trying new food, travelling, and listening to music on one of three hi-fis in her house. She firmly believes cooking and music are an elite combination. Arguing won’t help.
